I’m 5’8” and ordered a size medium and it fit perfectly. The length of the jacket hits just right below my hip and feels snug with still some extra room for me to comfortably layer clothing if I choose to.

  • ★★★★★

The shell of the jacket is made from 91% Polyester and 9% Spandex with soft silver mylar thermal fabric for the interior. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the overall construction. The fabric is thick, without being too heavy and you have the option of removing the hoodie. Overall, it’s clear that even though Venustas expertise is in the heating technology of the jacket, they definitely didn’t skimp on the fabric quality.

  • ★★★★★

I took my jacket on a morning walk throughout my neighborhood. It was a cooler morning so I started off on the high (red) setting. Now let me tell you - that level is warm. The heating system is located on the back, chest, and shoulders, so I could instantly feel myself start to sweat once I began moving. I quickly switched the setting to medium heat (white) for the rest of my walk and that served me well. I appreciate how the heating system is located just on the back, shoulders, and chest, and not the arms. I honestly feel like the arms would’ve been overkill as the heat that wraps around your chest and back naturally flows to your arms as you begin walking and moving around.

  • ★★★★☆

Between the high-quality fabric, smart heating technology, and sharp construction, my expectations were definitely exceeded. The only qualm I have is that the battery can be a little cumbersome and takes some getting used to. You don’t see a bulge from the battery on the outside, but as soon as you put your hands into your pocket, that’s when you feel it snug against your left hand.

  • ★★★★★

Coming in at $150, it’s definitely an investment piece and isn’t just an impulse buy. However, if you have an upcoming winter trip, live somewhere bitter cold, or just value being cozy and warm (I know I do!), this jacket is 100% worth the investment. I also love how you have the option of not using the heating technology if you don’t want to.

Pros:

  • Made with high-quality, durable materials

  • Comfortable fit and cozy exterior pockets

  • Removable and adjustable hoodie

  • Superior heating system with three settings

  • Option to not use heating technology by easily removing the battery pack

Cons:

  • No sustainability efforts (that I could find)

  • Battery pack can feel a bit bulky and takes some getting used to

Venustas: What To Know About the Brand

The idea for Venustas happened while on a trip to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The founder’s wife had struggled with enjoying a hike due to the frigid temperature and harsh environment. In an effort to free his wife from her discomfort and all the cumbersome layers of clothing, the founder put together a heated jacket prototype that would allow her to enjoy the journey just as much as the destination. Since its launch in 2018, Venustas has gone on to develop 40+ products that all focus on supporting travelers while on all of their adventures, no matter the condition. Venustas is now available in eight countries and plans on expanding in the upcoming year.

Venustas Heated Jacket Review

As someone who is notorious for always being cold and goes straight to snuggling under the blanket the second it gets below 50 degrees, I was super excited to get my hands on their heated jacket to see if it lives up to the hype. The following is a review of the Women's Heated Jacket 7.4V from Venustas in a size medium.

Unpacking and First Impressions

My heated jacket arrived quickly and was conveniently packed in a reusable, waterproof bag. Inside I found the user manual and the battery pack and charger, as well as the actual jacket. Although I appreciated how compact and neatly packed the jacket was, I felt like the additional plastic film cushions were overkill. Even the waterproof bag, battery pack, and charger were wrapped in a thin layer of plastic - all of which I thought was unnecessary. I’d love to see Venustas take steps towards reducing the overall amount of packaging materials used, especially since all of these materials immediately ended up in my trash and recycle bins. Even though I appreciated their efforts to safely transport the jacket and I know their intentions were good, I know consumers like myself are looking to brands to not only take steps towards sustainability but also share those initiatives with their customers.

Sizing and Fit

As I plugged in the battery to charge, I slipped on the jacket and was instantly impressed with the fit. I’m 5’8” and ordered a size medium and it fit perfectly. The length of the jacket hits just right below my hip and feels snug with still some extra room for me to comfortably layer clothing if I choose to. When it comes to sizing: Venustas hit the nail on the head with this one.

Quality of Materials

This was what I love most about this jacket. The materials feel, for lack of a better word, rich. The shell of the jacket is made from 91% Polyester and 9% Spandex with soft silver mylar thermal fabric for the interior. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the overall construction. The fabric is thick, without being too heavy and you have the option of removing the hoodie. The three exterior pockets have zippers that sit flush and are water-resistant. The inside of the pockets are soft and made from fuzzy, warm fabric that I know will come in handy on bitterly cold days. Overall, it’s clear that even though Venustas expertise is in the heating technology of the jacket, they definitely didn’t skimp on the fabric quality.

Heating Technology

Once I inserted the power cable into the port of the battery, I pressed the power button on the outside of the jacket and let the jacket preheat for 5 minutes. While it preheats, the power button lightly blinks red and turns to white once ready. It defaults to the medium heat setting, and then you have the option of adjusting to high heat (red), low heat (blue), or back to medium heat (white) by simply holding down the power button for 1 second.

I took my jacket on a morning walk throughout my neighborhood. It was a cooler morning (in the 50’s - which for an Arizona native is by all accounts cold) so I started off on the high (red) setting.

Overall, the heating ability is impressive and with the 7-8 hour battery life, Venustas definitely knows their way around this technology and I’m excited to use it during my upcoming winter travels.

Overall Design

Between the high-quality fabric, smart heating technology, and sharp construction, my expectations were definitely exceeded. The only qualm I have is that the battery can be a little cumbersome and takes some getting used to. You don’t see a bulge from the battery on the outside, but as soon as you put your hands into your pocket, that’s when you feel it snug against your left hand. Unless it’s really, really cold outside, I honestly feel like I’ll go without the battery pack. The construction and materials are good enough to keep me warm without the heating system. But it’s nice to know that on those especially cold mornings and nights, I can opt for the heating technology to keep me extra cozy and warm.

Value for Money

Coming in at $150, it’s definitely an investment piece and isn’t just an impulse buy. However, if you have an upcoming winter trip, live somewhere bitter cold, or just value being cozy and warm (I know I do!), this jacket is 100% worth the investment. I also love how you have the option of not using the heating technology if you don’t want to. In all honesty, I would still pay $150 for this jacket even without the heating technology because the construction and materials are of such high quality.

The Bottom Line

After a thorough test run, I’d highly recommend making this heated jacket your new winter staple. The heating technology is unlike any other brand and the construction quality and superior materials used are what make this jacket truly stand out from the crowd.
